About 11,200 Scion iQ will be subjected to be voluntarily recalled, Toyota announced today. The affected Scion iQ vehicles are those manufactured in 2012 and early 2013.
The purpose of the recall is to examine the front passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) weight sensor cables. To some extend, if the cable is damaged, the airbag may not deploy or the airbags and seat belt pre-tensioner may be irregularly triggered.
A new protective covers over the sensors will be put in at the time of the inspection. Prospective involved Scion iQ owners will receive a notification letter in early December 2012.
