Toyota announced that it will carry out a voluntary safety recall of the selected Tacoma 2013-2014 model year to check and fix or replace the engine valve springs.
The total number of vehicles that are involved in this recall is about 4,000. Toyota says some engine valve springs that were made by its supplier could grow fractures, and after a while will break as a result of improper maintenance of equipment used to make the component.
Owners of the 2013-2014 Toyota Tacoma will receive a recall notification from Toyota via first class mail. Your vehicle could already be affected by the bad engine valve springs if the engine produces strange noise or noticeable rough performance. In poorer condition, the vehicle could stop while being operated.
The 2013-2014 Toyota Tacoma is powered by the same two choices of engines, a 4-cyl 2.7-L producing 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque, and a V6 4.0-L generating 236 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. In 2014, Toyota introduced a new SR Package for the Tacoma and discontinued the X-Runner Tacoma.
