Toyota finally came up with a name for its new Fuel Cell vehicle and it is called “Mirai”, meaning “future” in Japanese.

Indeed, this is a car of the future since it employs fuel cell that uses hydrogen to create electricity to power its electric motor, and can travel up to 300 miles on a single tank of hydrogen.  Toyota said that the vehicle will mark “a turning point for the automotive industry”.

So now the question is if you will see the hydrogen stations everywhere just like the gas stations? Not really and not now, but in addition to the 19 existing hydrogen stations in California, Toyota actually has worked with Air Liquide to develop 12 more hydrogen stations in the five Northeastern states including Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.

It will only take less than five minutes to fill the hydrogen tank and when it runs, its only emission is water vapor. The 2016 Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell Sedan will go on sale in 2015
