Subaru Refreshes the 2017 Forester with Updated Safety Technology and Better Gas Mileage

Coming into 2017, the Subaru Forester get insignificant change in styling, but it gains new safety technology, and has better fuel economy.

The most noticeable changes are the front bumper cover and the new designed hexagonal grille. The headlights and rear combination lights also got a new look. Other than that, not much has changed, except for the Premium models which now also have a body color matching rear spoiler which was only available on the Limited, Touring and XT Premium models. In addition, a new Sepia Bronze Metallic exterior color is exclusively offered on the Touring models.

About the wheels, 17-inch wheels are standard on 2.5i Premium and Limited models, while the new 18-in wheel design is standard on 2.0XT trims. Some trims may get a one of the two new aluminum alloy wheel designs, which has a high-contrast black and machined finish.

There are some changes on the inside, but the most worth mentioning change is the updated steering wheel with audio, Bluetooth and cruise control switches.

Fuel economy has been improved for the 2.5i CVT model which now achieves fuel economy rating of 26 city / 32 highway / 28 combined MPG versus 24 city / 32 highway / 27 combined MPG for the previous model.

Last but not least, the 2017 Forester receives an update to Subaru’s EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, incorporating color cameras.  The revised system also includes “Lane Keep Assist”, which helps keep the vehicle in its lane.  Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are now available on the Limited and Touring models.  Premium models that are equipped with EyeSight also receives Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
