Subaru to Unveil BRZ Production Display Model at 2011 Tokyo Motor Show

Press Release : Subaru Unveils “SUBARU BRZ”

Subaru has announced its debut of Subaru BRZ (display model) at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.  The Subaru BRZ was developed as a joint project between Subaru and Toyota.  There are a lot of similarities between the BRZ and the recently unveiled Toyota GT 86, so the BRZ can be looked at as a Subaru’s version of the GT 86.

Toyota’s direct injection and port injection technology “D-4S” was added to the Subaru’s horizontally opposed, four-cylinder boxer engine. Just like the GT 86, the BRZ’s boxer engine generates 197bhp at 7,000rpm and maximum torque of 205Nm at 6,600rpm.

Similar to the GT 86, the Subaru BRZ is designed to maximize the low center of gravity and aerodynamic performance.  Combination the low center of gravity and light-weight chassis gives the BRZ astonishing handling character.

Interior, Subaru aims for making “driver and vehicle become one”.  The steering wheel was made smaller to achieve sports car maneuverability.  The tachometer  is placed in the center of the gauges for instant information.  Custom sports car seats are designed to hold the driver and passenger and feature lowered sitting positions.

The Subaru BRZ rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels with 215/45R17 tires.
