The all-new 2013 Scion FR-S has won AutoGuide.com’s “Car of the Year” award, the very first “Car of the Year” award from AutoGuide.com. You would think the sibling Subaru BRZ would share the spotlight, but surprisingly it wasn’t chosen. According to AutoGuide.com’s judges, one of the reasons only Scion FR-S was chosen because of Toyota’s vision, initiation and funding of the project.
Delivering 200 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb-ft of torque at 6,600 rpm, the Scion FR-S is not a fast car, but being a “car of the year”, speed alone is not a factor. As said by AutoGuide.com, the key feature of a sports car is that it’s fun to drive and it makes the driver feel like a professional behind the wheel.
Pricing is also one of the factors of fun. With a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $24,200 when equipped with a 6-Speed manual transmission, the 2013 Scion FR-S is very obtainable.
