Nissan GT-R Breaks the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for Fastest Drift

Nissan has brought home the Guinness World Records title for fastest drift.  The record was achieved on a specially-tuned Nissan GT-R 2016 Model Year when it reached a speed of 189.49 Miles/hr or 304.96 Km/hr during a special event taken place at Fujairah International Airport, UAE, which was chosen for its 1.86 miles long airstrip which was considered to be sufficiently long enough for the challenge.

The record-setting GT-R was tuned with the help and coordination from Nismo to deliver 1380 horsepower, and readjusted to have all the power go to the rear wheels.

Prepared by GReddy Trust and driven by Masato Kawabata, the Japanese drift champion and tile holder for the Japanese drifting series, the GT-R was tested extensively at Japan’s Fuji Speedway facility, and was put together in five days at the workshop in one of the airport’s hangars.  It had only 3 shots to break the records as per strict guidelines set by Guinness World Records.
