Mazda’s SKYACTIV-G Named 2012 Ward’s “10 Best Engines”

Press Release : Mazda’s SKYACTIV®-G Gasoline Engine Named To WARD’S 10 Best Engines List

Today, Nissan announced that is SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine has been selected as a winner of WardsAuto World’s 2012 “Wald’s 10 Best Engines” award. The Mazda’s SKYACTIV-G was voted to be in the top 10 out of 35 nominated engines.

As part of Mazda’s SKYACTIV technology including engines, transmissions, body and chassis system, the SKYACTIV-G 2.-liter engine features the world’s highest gasoline engine compression ratio of 14.0:1 with no abnormal combustion.  With the high compression combustion, the engine efficiency is improved significantly, estimated 15% increases in fuel efficiency and torque.

For the North American market, SKYACTIV-G engine is installed in the refreshed 2012 Mazda3, which helps the 2012 Mazda3 to achieve highest MPG of any Mazda, estimated at 28 city/40 highway/33 combined.  During the overall test drive, WardsAuto Word confirmed more than 34mpg.

Other features that are parts of SKYACTIV-G such as a 4-2-1 exhaust system, cavity pistons, multihole injectors, to name a few enable the overall engine’s high compression ratio.
