20 Years History of Mazda MX-5 Miata

To celebrate the success of its legendary roadster, Mazda Motor Europe offers a special edition model that takes its owner back to the basics of roadster fun. Based on the 1.8-litre soft top, the special edition is offered in traditional red or white, or in an exclusive Aurora Blue colour, with matching body-colour decorative panelling in the interior. Special 20th anniversary logos are onboard inside and out, including special carpeting, a stainlesssteel scuff plate with the car’s serial number (from 1 to only 2,000), and aluminium alloy wheels with a finish specific to this model. And to make the drive even more exhilarating, the special edition has a strut tower bar added for stiffer, sportier handling.

Mazda MX-5 is unique among sports cars today. It has grown and evolved in 20 years into a state-of-the-art vehicle, yet all of the attributes it originally had are still intact. The third generation facelift model launched in 2009 is still snug, sharp-steering and extremely fun to drive. It is still affordable and frugal at the pump for a sports car, just like the original model. By constantly updating without ever changing the original concept, Mazda has made the MX-5 more popular than ever before.

To celebrate two decades of success of the ultimate lightweight roadster, an entry in the Guinness Book of Records and over 870,000 owners worldwide, Mazda has created a special 20th Anniversary MX-5 exclusive to Europe in a limited edition of only 2,000 units. Each car is equipped with a special edition scuff plate with a serial number from 1 to 2,000. Taking as the starting point a production model 1.8-litre soft top version, Mazda has created a true collector’s item that comes in three colours – red, blue or white, like the original MX-5 – with special chrome facia, new wheel finishing, body-colour interior decorative panelling, a special strut tower bar (for stiffer, sportier handling) and 20th Anniversary logos inside and out.
