Lexus Vehicles to be Built in the U.S. – Starting with the ES 350

Press Release : Lexus ES 350 to be Produced in the United States

For the first time, Lexus vehicles will be built in the U.S., starting with the Lexus ES 350 in 2015, Lexus announced today.  The production of the Lexus ES 350 in 2015 at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Georgetown, Kentucky, will also mark the first time the ES will be built outside of Japan.

Around 50,000 Lexus vehicles will be rolled out from the plant in Kentucky, bringing the plant’s total annual production capacity to more than 550,000 vehicles annually.

With over 56,000 vehicles sold in the U.S. in 2012, the ES is Lexus’s best selling sedan.  The ES started its 6th generation in 2013 with an introduction of the very first hybrid version in its lineup – only the gas-powered vehicles will be assembled in Kentucky.

Note: Lexus vehicles had been built in Japan until 2013 when the Lexus RX 330 became the first Lexus vehicle to be assembled outside of Japan – Ontario, Canada.
