To expand further its presence in the premium automotive segment, Infiniti announced a new nomenclature approach, which will be applied to Infiniti’s entire vehicle lineup starting with the 2014 model year.

When the new naming is in effect, all Infiniti models will have a Q or QX prefix.  According to Infiniti, Q (for sedan, coupe) and QX (for crossover, SUV) get the inspiration from the next generation Infiniti models, whereas linking back to Infiniti’s heredity of the Q45.

Infiniti G Sedan will be the first model to have its name changed.  The all-new 2014 Infiniti G Sedan to be revealed in January at the 2013 North American International Auto Show will be named Infiniti Q50.
