Press Release : Honda Develops New Technology to Join Steel and Aluminum

Honda has developed a new technology that joins steel and aluminum, which has been applied to the door panel of the all-new 2014 Acura RLX and will be applied to other Honda’s models.

As the world’s first application to the mass production vehicles’ door panel, the technology helps improve fuel economy by reducing the door panel weight by about 17% compared to the conventional all-steel door panel.  Weight reduction on both sides of the vehicle consequently helps improve vehicle’s stability by moving the point of gravity toward the center of the vehicle.
