Honda today released a sketch of its next-generation vehicle that runs on fuel-cell technology, which will make its global premiere at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto next week.

There is no official name for the concept and Honda just names it FCEV as it stands for Fuel-cell Electric Vehicle.  Featuring the ultramodern innovative design, the Honda FCEV suggests prospective designing trend from Honda for its future fuel-cell electric vehicle.

Honda was the first auto manufacturer to apply fuel-cell technology to consumer vehicles when the Honda FCX Clarity was certified by the U.S. EPA and California Air Resources Board for commercial use back in 2002. Honda said the next-generation FCEV Concept will be available in the U.S and Japan in 2015, and afterward in Europe.

According to Honda, the way fuel-cell technology operates in the FCX Clarity is by “employing Honda’s V Flow stack in combination with a new compact and efficient lithium ion battery pack and a single hydrogen storage tank to power the vehicle’s electric drive motor. The fuel cell stack operates as the vehicle’s main power source. Hydrogen combines with atmospheric oxygen in the fuel cell stack, where chemical energy from the reaction is converted into electric power used to propel the vehicle.”.
