Honda Civic To Race in FIA World Touring Car Championship

Press Release : Honda Civic For FIA World Touring Car Championship

Honda has announced that its Civic will race in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).  The Honda Civic that is going to be used in the race is the European 5-door Civic, which has a totally new engine installed and designed specifically for this race.  The racing engine is a direct injection turbo-charged petrol 1.6-liter 4 cylinder in accordance with FIA’s Super 2000 regulations.

According to WTCC, vehicle specification is strictly regulated by FIA Super 2000 category and the championship is reserved for cars powered by a 1.6 litre petrol engine, turbo-charged with direct injection.

Honda has formed an alliance with Mugen and J.A.S Motorsport for this project, in which Mugen will supply bespoke racing engine along with maintaining it, while J.A.S Motorsport will manufacture the race car.
