Honda today unveiled the next-generation Civic hatchback prototype at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, previewing the Civic hatchback production model which will be launched in Europe early next year and in the United States in the second half of this year.

From the prototype, the all-new Honda Civic hatchback will have short overhangs and ride on a bigger and wider wheels and tires, providing a solid stance.  It features a sculpted hood, accentuated wheel arches, double parallel body lines, C-shaped LED rear lights and front and rear bumper with integrated large air intakes.  Honda said that the addition of the new Civic will make the Civic lineup the sportiest and most expansive lineup ever.

The Civic hatchback will be built in the UK and exported to the US and other markets. The Civic hatchback for the U.S. market is expected to be powered by the similar powertrains that power the coupe and sedan, including the 2.0-L 4-cyl 158 horsepower engine and the 1.5-L turbocharged engine that delivers 174 horsepower.  Just like other Civic models in the lineup, automatic and 6-speed manual transmission will likely be available depending on the engine type.

The Civic hatchback will make its North American debut at the 2016 New York Auto Show later this month.
