Press Release 2: 2013 Toyota Avalon Overview

Designed and developed in the U.S., the 2013 Toyota Avalon is entering its fourth generation with dramatic changes from having a new styling to integrating innovative technologies.

Compared to the outgoing model, the new Toyota Avalon has a sportier and more compact exterior, yet the interior remains as comfortable as the Avalon has been known for.

The new Avalon features Quadrabeam headlight cluster, which is the industry-first application.  The Quadrabeam headlight cluster provides excellent lighting performance by utilizing double-eye PES headlight with two square glass condenser lenses. LED lamps are utilized for tail lights which gives better visibility.

With the more molded and sporty exterior design along with the new aerodynamic side mirrors, the new 2013 Avalon has low coefficient of drag, which helps fuel efficiency and stability.

The all-new Toyota Avalon gasoline model is powered by an all-aluminum 3.5-L V6 engine which produces 268 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque and propels the car from 0 to 60mph in less than seven seconds.  With that type of performance, the new 2013 Avalon still manages to offer excellent fuel efficiency for a premium mid-size sedan, with a city/highway/combined fuel efficiency rating of 21/31/25 mpg.

The all-new Toyota Avalon Hybrid model is powered a 2.5-L 4-cyl engine which produces 156 horsepower and 119 lb.-ft of torque.  Mated with two electric motors which get power from a compact 244.8-V battery, the 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid generates 200 net horsepower and is able to achieve 0-60mph acceleration in about 8.0 seconds.  About 124 lbs heavier than the Avalon gasoline model, the new 2013 Toyota Avalon has fuel economy rating of 40city/39highway/40combined MPG.

The New 2013 Toyota Avalon gasoline and hybrid models ride on uniquely designed thinner spokes 17-inch aluminum wheels.  The XLE Touring and Limited models ride on 18-inch wheels.

The prices for the all-new 2013 Toyota Avalon gasoline models are between $31,000 and $40,000.  The 2013 Avalon Hybrid prices are between about $35,500 and $41,500.  The price differences between the Avalon gasoline and hybrid models are from $1,750 to $2,360.
