Previewed in Geneva as a prototype earlier this year, the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback has officially joined the Civic lineup in the U.S., giving consumers extended fun and sporty choice that the existing Sedan and Coupe have been already providing.
Euro-inspired, and built on the same platform as seen on the Sedan and Coupe, the 2017 Civic Hatchback is offered in five trims–LX, EX, EX-L Navi, Sport and Sport Touring. Despite being powered by the same 1.5-L 4-cyl turbocharged engine, the output horsepower varies depending on the trims. The LX, EX and EX-L has the total output of 174 horsepower and the Sport and Sport touring has total output of 180 horsepower thanks to a center-mounted dual exhaust, and a little shorter in height.
All trims are available with automatic transmission, but the manual transmission is only available in the LX and Sport trims. Depending on the trim and the transmission, the 2017 Civic Hatchback has different EPA rating. For example, when equipped with AT, the LX, EX and EX-L is rated at 31 city/40 highway/34 combined mpg, and the Sport trims are rated at 30 city/36 highway/32 combined mpg. When equipped with MT, the LX is rated at 30 city/39 highway/33 combined mpg and the Sport is rated at 30 city/39 highway/33 combined mpg.
The 2017 Civic Hatchback features a fully independent suspension system, sport-tuned electronic power steering with variable gear ratio, and 4-channel anti-lock disc brakes.
Interior, the 2017 Civic Hatchback has a class-leading volume and cargo capacity. It has best-in-class rear seat legroom and largest cargo carrying capacity with rear seats up.
