2016 Refreshed Lexus LX 570

Lexus just unveiled the refreshed LX 570 over the last weekend, at the 65th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance.  Lexus said for 2016, the upgrades for the SUV “go beyond skin-deep” with any surface of the LX 570 was “barely” left “untouched”.

Exterior, the 2016 Lexus LX 570 rides on new 10-spoke 20-inch split wheels, and new available 21-inch wheels.  It gets a redesigned front fascia with one-piece Lexus signature spindle grille, accommodating with LED headlights, turn signals and fog lights.  The rear bumper and taillights also get a new look.

Interior, the LX 570 gets a long array of upgrades and revisions which include a new three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel, new analog clock, the available dual screen Rear Seat Entertainment System with dual 11.6-inch screens instead of the former 7.0-inch screens, new LED ambient lighting in the cabin and cargo area, and the overhead console lighting now operates via touch sensor, and a new 12.3-inch display with Remote Touch Interface (RTI) which makes it easier to operate climate control, audio, phone, navigation and more.  Also new for 2016, the LX 570’s second-row provides USB ports and the armrest features controls for the air conditioning and audio.

Performance-wise, the 2016 Lexus LX 570 is continued with the 5.7-L V8 engine that produces 383 horsepower and 403 l.-ft. of torque.  However the engine is teamed with an eight-speed automatic transmission instead of the former six-speed for enhanced performance and efficiency.  The new eight-speed transmission helps the 2016 LX 570 score a little better in fuel economy, rating at 13 city/18 highway/15 combined mpg (vs. 12/17/14 mpg in the 2015 LX 570).

In addition, 2016 LX 570 is now equipped with new Drive Mode Select (ECO, COMFORT, SPORT S), which has been used in other Lexus vehicles.  The Drive Mode Select allows the driver to alter powertrain and suspension responses by using a dial on the console.  The system also controls responses of the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), which continually adjusts shock absorber damping rates while driving, helping to ensure optimal comfort even as the road surface changes.

Last but not least, the 2016 LX 570 gains a new and standard Lexus Safety System +, which consists of Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Intelligent High Beam (IHB) and All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
