Lexus unveiled the 2016 GS lineup over the weekend at the 65th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance. Along with giving a facelift to the existing GS models, Lexus introduced a new GS 200t rear-wheel drive model to the GS lineup.

Entering 2016, all GS models get new 18- and 19-inch machine-finish wheel designs, restyled front fascia with bolder Lexus signature spindle grille and Bi-LED headlights, and revised tail lamps and rear bumper treatments.  Interior, the 2016 GS gets a larger 2.4-inch display, new interior wood and aluminum trim selections.

The bigger news is the introduction of the GS 200t rear-wheel drive model, giving the 2016 Lexus GS lineup a total of three models – the GS 200t, GS 350 and GS 450h.

The new GS 200t is powered by a 2.0-L 4-cyl turbocharged engine (powering the NX 200t), teaming with an 8-speed AT to deliver 241 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft of torque.  The 2016 Lexus GS 200t has 0-60 mph acceleration of 7.2 seconds and estimated fuel economy of 22 city/33 highway/ 26 combined mpg.

The 2016 Lexus GS 350 is powered by a more powerful V6 3.5-L engine, which teams with the 8-speed AT to deliver 311 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque (vs. 306 horsepower and 277 lb.-ft. of torque in the 2015 GS 350).  Despite producing more power, the 2016 GS 350 is a little bit more efficient than the 2015 model.  The GS 350 RWD has estimated fuel economy of 20/29/23 city/highway/combined mpg (vs. 19/29/23 in the 2015 RWD model), and the AWD model is rated at 19/27/22 city/highway/combined mpg (vs. 19/26/21 in the 2015 AWD model). Both GS 350 RWD and AWD have 0-60 mph acceleration of 5.7 seconds and 5.8 seconds respectively.

The GS 450h continues to be powered the Hybrid Drive system which produces a total of 338 horsepower from an Atkinson cycle 3.5-liter V6 engine and a water-cooled permanent-magnet electric motor.  The 2016 Lexus gS 450h has 0-60 mph acceleration of 5.6 seconds and estimated fuel economy of 29 city/34 highway/31 combined mpg.
