Toyota has announced its plan to take the 2015 Tundra TRD Pro Series to the Baja 1000, putting it through the “ultimate test”.

Lightly modified from the new 2015 Tundra TRD Pro Series that Toyota unveiled at the Chicago Auto back in February, the truck will race in the “Full Size Stock Class” this November in the 47th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.

Toyota said:

“Competing in the Full Size Stock class allows our team to test the Tundra TRD Pro as close to stock as possible and showcase its strength and durability in the Mexican desert’s treacherous terrain”

Modifications to the stock Tundra TRD Pro Series mostly are for safety purpose, including a roll cage, race seats, seat harnesses, window nets, an off-road suspension system, HID Hella front lights, LED Rally 4000 Hella A Pillar lights, navigators, race radio and intercom.

The stock 5.7-L V8 381 horsepower engine is expected to stay unchanged except for being mated with a custom cold air intake and custom Cat-back Exhaust.

See “Press Release” for members of the TRD Pro Desert Race Team and more details on the TRD Pro Desert Race Truck Specs.
