2013 Scion iQ EV Arrives in the U.S

Toyota has announced the availability of the 2013 Scion iQ EV (Electric Vehicle) in the U.S for use in car-sharing programs, in urban settings and metropolitan environments.
The Scion iQ EV is powered by Toyota’s new ultra-compact and lightweight 12kWh lithium-ion battery which has electric power consumption rate of 104 Wh/km. The battery can be completely charged in about 3 hours from a 240V outlet. In the normal driving condition, the Scion iQ EV has a traveling range of up to 50 miles with a full battery.
The Scion iQ EV offers three driving modes – D range, S range and B range. D range offers power saving which is suitable for city driving, S range boosts acceleration and performance and so is suitable for fast driving, and B range makes the best use of regenerative braking efficiency.
Manufactured in Japan, the Scion iQ EV is offered in two exterior colors, Silver and Super Red. Only about 90 units will be available initially in the U.S.
