2013 Scion FR-S Pricing Announced

Press Release : Pricing for 2013 Scion FR-S Sports Car Announced

Today Scion just announced pricing for its all-new 2013 FR-S.  When equipped with a 6-Speed manual transmission, the 2013 Scion FR-S has a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $24,200, and when equipped a 6-Speed automatic transmission, its starting MSRP is $25,300.

FR-S stands for Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport.  It’s Scion’s definition of an authentic rear-wheel-drive sports car with exceptionally balanced performance and handling, compelling style, flexible utility and surprising fuel efficiency.

The Scion FR-S sports coupe is most inspired by the AE86 generation of the Corolla, better known as the Hachi-Roku, meaning “8-6” in Japanese.  The front-engine, rear-wheel drive coupe was lightweight and well balanced, making it a solid choice for driving enthusiasts.

Inspired by the AE86, the Scion FR-S is built around the core goal of achieving “pure balance,” which begins with the strategic placement of a flat 2.0-liter boxer engine in a front-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration.  The engine’s compact size and shape allows the Scion FR-S’ powertrain to be mounted lower and further back towards the rear, giving the car a lower center of gravity and a dynamically favorable front-to-rear weight ratio.

The Scion FR-S is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cyl engine, which produces 200 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb-ft of torque at 6,600 rpm.  The engine is a joint product between Toyota and Subaru, which Subaru contributes its new new developed horizontally opposed engine and Toyota contributes its cutting edge D-4S D-4S direct and port injection system.

Equipped with dynamically tuned suspension setup which consists of MacPherson struts up front and a double wishbone system in the rear, the 2013 Scion FR-S runs on 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/45R17 tires.

The 2013 Scion FR-S will be available in seven colors including Raven, Asphalt, Hot Lava, Argento, Ultramarine, Firestorm and Whiteout.

See “Press Release” for more details and preliminary specifications
