Honda today announced that its 2013 Civic Sedan and Coupe have become the first small cars in the automotive industry to earn a Top Safety Pick+ from the Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
According to IIHS, to earn Top Safety Pick+ vehicles must earn good ratings in at least 4 0f 5 tests and no less than acceptable in the 5th test. The five tests include Moderate Overlap Front Test, Small Overlap Front Test, Side Test, Rollover Test, and Rear Test.
Received significant front structure upgrades, the 2013 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe got good grades in the following tests – Moderate Overlap Front, Small Overlap Front, Side Impact, and Rollover (Roof Strength) Test. In addition to being the first small car to earn Top Safety Pick+, the 2013 Honda Civic also is the first to earn the Good rating on the new Small Overlap Front Test.
