Five Acura vehicles including the TL brought home awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) this year, but among them the 2013 Acura TL stands out the most with the “Top Safety Pick+” award, which is the highest possible award from IIHS that consists of 5 tests including the all-new Small Overlap Frontal Crash test.  In order to be awarded, the vehicles have to earn good ratings in 4 of 5 tests, and have to receive no less than acceptable rating in the 5th test.

Winning the “Top Safety Pick+” award, the 2013 Acura TL helps American Honda, as an automotive manufacturer, lead the industry with three TOP SAFETY PICK+ vehicles including the 2013 Accord Sedan, Accord Coupe and itself.

Besides the 2013 TL, the other four Acura that won the “Top Safety Pick” are the Acura ILX, MDX, RDX and TSX.  “Top Safety Pick” is the second highest award after the “Top Safety Pick+”, and to bring home this award, the vehicles need to score good ratings in the moderate overlap front, side, rollover and rear tests, regardless of their rating in the all-new Small Overlap Frontal Crash test.
