Press Release 2: 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution: Overview

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution enters 2012 with no major changes from the previous year except for a new upgraded interior, which receives a gloss-black trim for the instrument panel, and black sport fabric and soft touch door panels.

For 2012, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is again available in 2 models – the GSR and MR.  Both models are all-wheel drive, which has been well known as a signature trait in Lancer Evolution.

Both 2012 Lancer “Evo” models are powered by all-aluminum 2.0-liter turbocharged and intercooled 4-cylinder engine, which produces 291 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 300 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm.

The 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR comes with 5-Sp manual transmission with equipped standard features, whereas the Lancer Evolution MR comes with 6-speed Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST) and in addition to the standard features, is equipped with performance-oriented parts including Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs, two-piece Brembo front brake rotors, xenon HID headlamps, large type rear wing and leather/suede seating surfaces.

With the 5-Sp manual transmission, the Lancer Evolution GSR model has an estimated fuel economy rated at 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway.  The performance-oriented MR model with the TC-SST comes close to the GSR with 17 mpg city and 22 mpg highway.

The 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution rides on 18-inch wheels with 245/40R18 Yokohama ADVAN tires.  The Lancer “Evo” GSR features Enkei 18-inch cast-alloy wheels and the Lancer “Evo” comes with MR rides on 18-inch BBS forged-alloy wheels.
