The striking 2011 Mitsubishi Galant, with its high-end styling and amenities, brings tremendous value to the mid-size luxury sports sedan segment with fuel efficiency, roomy seating for five and even more included features and accessories for the new model year.
For 2011, the upper-level Galant SE sees a power glass sunroof, HomeLink® automatic garage door integration, illuminated visor vanity mirrors and an electrochromic interior rear view mirror joining the model’s already expansive list of included equipment. A DVD-based touch-screen navigation system with rear view backup camera (a package with an estimated $1,700 value in itself); a 650-watt Rockford-Fosgate® Acoustic Design audio system with auxiliary audio input jack; automatic climate control; heated front seats; 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat; cruise control; remote keyless entry; Bluetooth® hands-free phone system; sport-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob; and power side view mirrors, windows, and door locks, plus numerous other thoughtful and useful upscale touches are included on this model – all for under $24,000.
The base model Galant ES is also chock-full of included features that make it a tremendous buy in relation to its price. A rich-sounding 140-watt AM/FM/CD sound system with MP3 playback capability with auxiliary audio input and 6 speakers; air conditioning; cruise control; automatic headlamp shut off; integrated key and key fob with trunk release and panic button; keyless entry system; engine immobilizer; and power windows, mirrors and door locks all come standard.
New design features for both the 2011 Galant ES and SE models include chrome beltline molding that lends this stylish luxury sports sedan an even more upscale exterior appearance along with a half-inch ride height reduction for improved aerodynamic efficiency and a sleeker stance.
A 16-valve 2.4-liter SOHC 4-cylinder engine featuring Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control System (MIVEC), along with a 4-speed Sportronic® automatic transmission that allows the driver the option to manually make gear changes, make for a very fun and fuel-efficient drivetrain package that delivers an impressive highway fuel economy rating of 30 mpg. Power output for this engine is rated at 160 horsepower while Galant models sold in California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont are certified as partial zero-emissions vehicles (PZEV) that see a slight reduction in output at 155 horsepower.
On the safety front, all Galants come equipped with an advanced dual-stage front air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) with front passenger occupant sensors and dual action inflators; front seat-mounted side impact air bags; side front and rear curtain air bags; an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD); Active Stability Control (ASC) and Traction Control Logic (TCL) and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
The midsize Galant sedan, along with the Endeavor crossover SUV and the Eclipse sports coupe and Eclipse Spyder models, are all proudly built right here in America at Mitsubishi’s manufacturing plant located in Normal, Illinois.
